LOCAL SERVICEMEMBERS AND CIVILIANS ENJOY TIME IN THE BUNKER
Fleet Week Golf Tournament Set for Match Play at Salt Creek Golf Club

SAN DIEGO, October 7, 2008 – It may not be the first or the fifteenth, but it’s time to ask your chain of command for some payday activities. Military personnel and members of the local community will team-up for this year’s Fleet Week Golf Tournament presented by AT&T Government Solutions. They will have the opportunity to hit through the fairways and step on the greens of the Salt Creek Golf Club in Chula Vista, Calif., Oct. 8.

“Golf is an extremely popular sport, and we want to provide members of the military with an activity they will enjoy,” said Alex Squires, Acting Executive Director, Fleet Week San Diego. “Salt Creek Golf Club and AT&T Government Solutions have been generous enough to allow our military to enjoy the sweeping views and natural setting away from ‘the office.’”

Tee time and reduced rates

Registration for the event begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start time of 12:45 p.m. For mini-golf enthusiasts, a putting contest will begin at 12 p.m. Tournament play is free for active duty military. General public fees are $1,300 for Hole/Foursome and $800 for Foursome.

For those unable to make it in the afternoon, open play will be available from 6:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. All active duty members pay a reduced rate of $25.

“We want our military to know how much we appreciate what they do for us,” said Ron Gorski, General Manager, Salt Creek Golf Club. “Wednesday’s tournament won’t be so much who takes fewer strokes, but about recognizing our nation’s servicemembers.”
