Press Release \| Fleet Week San Diego PDF Version EMPLOYER SUPPORT FOR THE GUARD AND RESERVE TO HOLD LUNCHEON FOR SAN DIEGO COMPANIES The Department of Defense Organization Looks Forward to Recognizing Those Who Play Such an Important Role in Defending Our Nation SAN DIEGO, September 3, 2008 – Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense organization which recognizes companies that help to secure our nation by protecting jobs held by men and women in the Reserves during their time of service. Without these businesses, service members would find themselves jobless upon completing their duty. As a way of thanking these companies, the supervisors of National Guard and Reserve members will be invited to a luncheon where representative from ESGR and the Department of Defense will take the opportunity to acknowledge these proactive individuals and the companies they represent. Fleet Week San Diego The luncheon is an event made possible by Fleet Week San Diego, a nonprofit, public benefit corporation that seeks to support and recognize the sacrifices and contributions made by service men and women. Created by community and business leaders and fostered by the Chamber of Commerce, Fleet Week San Diego’s events have multiplied quickly becoming familiar features on the area’s annual calendar since its creation in 1997. Each event helps to further Fleet Week San Diego’s mission of properly paying tribute to San Diego’s service men and women for “Serving America Twice” in the defense of our nation and as volunteers in improving the quality of our communities. WHAT: Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve Luncheon WHEN: Thursday, September 11, 2008. Registration at 11 a.m. and Luncheon 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. WHERE: Sheraton Harbor Island, 1380 Harbor Island Drive, San Diego, Calif. 92101 Fleet Week San Diego is a nonprofit, public benefit corporation. In addition to honoring the military services through the annual Fleet Week events, the Foundation’s goals are to foster awareness of the contributions made by enlisted military personnel and their families, to enhance relationships between the civilian, business and military communities, to provide events that Military personnel and their families can attend at little or no cost, and to raise funds for charitable efforts benefiting enlisted service members and their families. Benefiting organizations include the USO, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and the Armed Services YMCA.
