FESTIVAL OF SPEED ADDS DRIFTING TO THE AGENDA
Drifting Exhibition Sure to Be a Crowd Pleaser at Coronado Speed Festival

SAN DIEGO, September 4, 2008 – San Diego based Drift Circuit is set to host an exciting drifting exhibition at the Coronado Speed Festival. Six of Drift Circuit’s best drivers will suit up to bring fans a high-powered show, demonstrating skillful mastery of both speed and movement. The exhibition will take place on the main track during the noon breaks September 27 and 28.

“I know the fans will enjoy watching this thrilling sport that is finally gaining momentum, especially in Southern California,” said Larry Blumberg, Co-Founder of the Coronado Speed Festival and Chair of the Speed Festival Committee. “Rather than race to the finish line, drivers will display their flair behind the wheel.”

Drifting is an un-timed freestyle motor sport that is judged by achieving the maximum sideways angle, and speed in the corner. Drifters gain maximum points by striking the proper clipping point, and taking a favorable line that connects one drift smoothly into the next.

In other words, drifters deliberately control their cars to slide sideways at high-speeds, aiming for the maximum points through stylized movements and skilled maneuvering techniques. Major consideration is given to style and crowd appeal. Originating on twisty, narrow, mountain roads in Japan, teams and individuals would compete for respect and the glory of being number one on the mountain.

“We are happy to be a part of this honorable event and hope our presence at the Coronado Speed Festival is an annual occurrence,” said Dan Greenbank, Founder of Drift Circuit. “It’s an amazing opportunity to show off an awesome sport and thank the military for their selfless contributions.”

About Drift Circuit

Drift circuit is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the sport by organizing legal practice sessions. The staff at Drift Circuit has spent years following drifting, seeing it evolve from an underground movement in Japan to mainstream events like the D1 Grand Prix. Formula D. Drift circuit respects the origins of the sport and the veterans who have worked hard to raise it to today’s level.

Their goal is to bring the excitement of drifting to you not through a magazine or DVD, but instead from where it is meant to be enjoyed, from behind the wheel of your own car. Drift Circuit provides a safe, fun and most importantly, legal venue for you to learn, practice and compete in the art of drifting.
